Thursday Quick Hits: No Suspension for Mark Ortmann

3 Comments- Mark Ortmann will not be suspended and has been cleared by the Big Ten to play on Saturday against Purdue. All I can say is that I’m glad there were no good replays of whatever happened, because Corey Liguet didn’t just start running funny on his own. It’s good that Michigan will have its starting left tackle on Saturday, though, because it needs to be at full strength for what is really a must-win game for bowl eligibility purposes.
- Michigan’s top three running backs are banged up, but Brandon Minor has been practicing more this week than he did in all of October. Let’s hope he is ready to play, because Carlos Brown has been limited this week due to knee tendinitis, and Michael Shaw is still recovering from a knee injury as well.
- It looks like Martavious Odoms will be a game-time decision this week.
- Devin Gardner said it’s a “possibility” that he could graduate in December and enroll at Michigan early. That would be great news if he could get to Ann Arbor in January, because it helps quite a bit for a recruit, especially a quarterback, to enroll early.
- Ohio State will wear a throwback jersey honoring its 1954 team for this year’s Michigan game. It seems a bit odd to wear a throwback jersey for an away game, but some OSU message boards have rumored that Michigan will wear a throwback of some kind as well. I don’t really expect that to happen, if only because Michigan’s jersey hasn’t even changed enough over the years for there to be a throwback. Things like stickers and numbers (on the side, not the back) have come off the helmet to make it less cluttered, but that’s about the only noticeable changes the home jersey has seen over the years.
