Tuesday Quick Hits: Football Pep Rally to Be Held on Friday
- You can buy pictures from games or other events on MGoBlue, and if you use the discount code “michsc5″ when you check out you will get 5% off. The code expires at the end of the month, so make sure to use it before then.
- There will be a pep rally for the football team at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. It is going to be held at Crisler Arena and is open to the public.
- Rich Rodriguez said something pretty funny yesterday when talking about Jon Conover, who hopes to go to the U-M Law School.
“If anybody has any influence on helping him get in there, I think he’d be terrific,” Rodriguez said. “I know enough about lawyers now that I think he’d be a great one. I’ll probably be employing him some day.”
Rodriguez is obviously referring to all of the issues he had with West Virginia after he left, though his lawyers have had to deal with other things as well.
- AnnArbor.com has a video of Kelvin Grady talking about what he did after he left the basketball team and before he joined the football team.
- A “two-minute drill” feature with Troy Woolfolk has been posted on MGoBlue.
- A poster on MGoBoard found out via a friend that the knee injury Eastern Michigan quarterback Andy Schmitt suffered in the fourth quarter on Saturday is career-ending. It’s amazing how such a serious injury can happen without getting touched. Schmitt simply dropped back, planted his foot, and suddenly his knee buckled. For an injury like that to be career-ending is both astonishing and depressing, especially since Schmitt had NFL aspirations.
- UM Hoops took a look at the basketball team’s non-conference schedule.
- The NCAA basketball tournament will not be coming to Grand Rapids anytime soon.
- An Oregon fan e-mailed head coach Chip Kelly after the Boise State game and asked for his trip to the land of the blue turf to be refunded because of how bad of a day the Ducks had both during and after the game. He even sent an invoice to Kelly, which would make you think that the e-mail would have been deleted immediately. Well, not only did Kelly read the e-mail, but he sent the fan a check for $439, refunding him what he paid to go to the Boise State game. I can’t believe this actually worked, as I’m sure all fans have joked about wanting a refund after a bad game. This fan actually sent an e-mail, though, and I guess it doesn’t hurt to ask. I applaud Kelly for his gesture, but I can’t even imagine how many e-mails he will get asking for refunds the next time Oregon loses.
- A Clemson fan took his team’s loss to Georgia Tech a couple weeks ago pretty hard, and thanks to YouTube we now have video evidence that includes commentary from Chris Fowler, Craig James, and Jesse Palmer. The first part of the video is them watching his reaction live while they were not on the air, and the second part is them doing their postgame wrap-up and having a tough time not bursting into laughter. You can see why below.
As funny as that was, I can emphasize with the fan. I’m sure if there was a camera on me after the Appalachian State game my reaction would have been pretty similar.

Some of the reactions from ND fans at the Big House were pretty classic too.
