Saturday Quick Hits: Johnny Sears Returns to Michigan as an EMU Eagle
- Johnny Sears was kicked off the team two years ago and is now playing Division I college football again in this area. This time around he is with Eastern Michigan, playing for the man who recruited him to come to Michigan in the first place — Ron English. In the story I wrote about Sears being dismissed from the team, I closed it out by saying that I hope he can get his life straightened out. It appears Sears has done just that, as he is now EMU’s starting kick returner and cornerback and in general it sounds like he has his life on the right track.
- Marcus Ray wrote a great piece about his relationship with Ron English.
- SI’s Andy Staples hit up Blimpy Burger before the Michigan-Notre Dame and had a funny exchange with another customer after placing his order of “six patties, a fried egg, bacon and mushrooms on a Kaiser roll.”
“Who are you?” asked a customer near the back of the line. “Charlie Weis?”
- Jeremy of The Hoover Street Rag chatted with Director of Bands Michael Haithcock and Michigan Marching Band Director Scott Boerma about the piped in music and other sound-related things in the Big House.
- Michigan is ranked fifth in the College Hockey News’ preseason poll.
