Former Michigan running back Sam McGuffie has transferred to Rice, which is located in Houston, TX. McGuffie wanted to go to school somewhere closer to home, and Rice is only a half-hour or so away from his hometown of Cypress, TX. The other two schools that were on McGuffie’s final list were Houston and Texas A&M.

Sam McGuffie wasn’t shit, ya he’s fast but that was in high school ball. I knew for a fact that once he got into college ball and got up against 6′4 linebackers that he would be screwed. Their isn’t one person he can jump over now that he is playing with alot bigger people

I'M from Michigan, But I moved to Texas as soon as I could. I knew Sam was special as a sophmore in high school. I think he should have stayed at Michigan, but he did what was best for Sam. I'll be watching him fly at rice games next year!!!Michigan has lost out on a spectacular running back.Michigan offensive line better improve or Nate won't last either!!!

As a former player & a coach I was extremely expressed with Sam. He will be be hard to replace & truly missed. I was knocked out once playing football in junior high school, once in as sophomore, & once as a junior in high school. However, I am sure he is not the only player this has happened to, as I have seen this many times during Junior High, High School & College. Big Blues loss unfortunatley will be Rice's gain.

i was watching his high school tape. those teams suck. they cant play ball. i expected hardnose football in Texas, but wow. I'd like to see him last playing football in San Diego or Los Angeles. Its a totally different game out there. CALIFORNIA BABy!

I have empathy for Sam. He was placed in a no-win situation. Withoug an effective OL, he could not run through tacklers. He needed to get the ball in the open field where he could use his quickness to the fullest. I wish Him the best. He gave it his all at Michigan and that is all one can ask.

Brandon Minor is far and away better than sam.

If McGuffie was still at UM they wouldn’t have lost to MSU

I wanted to see Sam come play at Bama his freshman year, Sabin tried recruiting him, he just said he had family in Michigan etc. To that guy who says LA football is tough, down south here we grow em big and hit hard too.

sam is not as good as you might think, he got more touches than brandon minor and still ended up with fewer yards cause he cant break a tackle to save his life, Michigan will do just fine with Minor

look at the michigan running backs this year! Brandon Minor is averaging 5 yards a carry and has 476 yards and he really has only played in 5 games and also Carlos Brown! he has 478 yards ruching this year too averaging 6 yards a carry.. they both need to stay healthy is the only problem but this year has proved that michigan is very deep in running backs with a ton of talent behind brown and minor.. with kevin grady averaging 8 yards per carry with only 80 yards though..Michael Shaw too averaging 6 yards per carry with 183 yards on the year.. and vincent smith.. man this guy is fast he is going to compete next year for the starting job with shaw but he is having a great year when he is in averaging 7 yards a carry with 203 rushing yards .. he is going to be good … and guess whos number he took? thats right #2 in place of sam mcwhatever his name is.. who him? haha but my point i am getting to is that the loss of sam did not effect our season in a bad way… that would be the defense’s fault there but i dont want to even get in with talking about them… we just need to finish the season off on the right foot by beating wisconsin and that fucking team that i hate so damn much down south and go on to a descent bowl game, win that then next year comes and then we compete for a national championship… GO BLUE!!!!!
