  • Michigan took care of Iowa in basketball with ease yesterday. The Wolverines won 64-49 in a game they had control of from the very start. There really weren’t many noteworthy things to come out of the game. Michigan simply took the lead early on and never looked back.
  • Manny Harris led Michigan in scoring with 18 points and DeShawn Sims was next with 16. Nobody else scored in double digits, as the scoring was pretty spread out.
  • On Wednesday, Michigan will play Illinois for the second time in ten days in basketball. This week’s game is at Illinois and will start at 8:30 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network. Michigan beat Illinois on January 4 by a score of 74-64.
  • Michigan put together a solid weekend of hockey and swept Miami (Ohio). Michigan won 5-1 on Saturday and 4-0 on Sunday. It was pretty much flat out domination from the start of the first game to the end of the second, leading to a one-sided series that was huge for Michigan when it comes to the CCHA standings. Michigan is now only three points behind third- and fourth-place, and they have played fewer games than the four teams in front of them.
  • Michigan will look to continue their climb in the standings with a home-and-home series against Bowling Green. Friday’s game is in Ann Arbor and starts at 7:35 p.m. ET. Saturday’s game is at Bowling Green, starts at 5:05, and will be broadcast on Comcast 900.
  • The damage to Yost Arena will be completely repaired in the spring.
  • It looks like Michigan and Wisconsin will play each other in hockey at Camp Randall Stadium in February 2010.
  • The AFCA has submitted a proposal for an early signing day in college football, and it will be reviewed by conference commissioners later this week.
  • Missouri’s Jeremy Maclin and Texas Tech’s Michael Crabtree both entered the NFL Draft last week.
  • Tim Tebow, on the other hand, is returning for his senior season at Florida. I bet Scot Loeffler is happy that he will get a chance to coach Tebow.
  • Iowa backup quarterback Jake Christensen is going to transfer.
  • I was interviewed by MLive’s “It’s Just Sports” blog.
