Tuesday Quick Hits: Threet and Minor Are Questionable for Saturday
- I was busy studying for exams yesterday and didn’t have time to post notes on Michigan’s Monday press conferences or recap what happened this past weekend in the Big Ten. Expect both of those posts to be up later today.
- In the meantime, the most noteworthy item to come out of Rich Rodriguez’s presser was that both Steven Threet and Brandon Minor are questionable for the Northwestern game on Saturday. Threet is still recovering from the after-effects of a concussion, and Minor is has multiple injuries. I certainly would have more confidence in Nick Sheridan than I did at this time last week considering how well he played against Minnesota. I do hope Threet is healthy enough to play, though. That way if the starter gets in a rut, Rodriguez would have the ability to sub someone else in to attempt to jump-start the offense.
- Northwestern running back Omar Conteh is out for the season. Conteh was filling in for starting running back Tyrell Sutton, who is also out for the season, though he may be back for a bowl game. C.J. Bacher, Northwestern’s usual starting quarterback, has missed the last two games due to an injury but may start against Michigan.
- Michigan plays its first game in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic tonight at 7 p.m. against Michigan Tech. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU, as will Michigan’s game tomorrow if they beat Michigan Tech. The Wolverines will face either IUPUI or Northeastern on Wednesday, with Northeastern being the likely opponent if Michigan is victorious tonight.
- UM Hoops posted a preview of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic’s Ann Arbor bracket.
- A bracket of the full tournament can be found here.
- Just like last week, if you’re not going to Michigan’s game on Saturday and have to watch it on TV, I strongly suggest you mute it, because Pam Ward is going to be the play-by-play announcer once again.
- HBO’s documentary on the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry is now available on DVD. (HT: MVictors)
- Dual-threat QB recruit Eugene Smith, who was once considering Michigan, committed to West Virginia.
- Pac-10 officials really suck.
