Monday Quick Hits: Butler Switches to Defensive End
- Steven Threet left the Penn State game after he reinjured his elbow.
- Carson Butler has switched from tight end to defensive end since he fell off the depth chart at TE. Due to the switch, he has changed back to #85, which is what he wore prior to this season.
- Michigan State quarterback Brian Hoyer, who left the Ohio State game with a couple injuries, should start on Saturday against Michigan.
- The hockey team split with Northern Michigan. Friday’s game resulted in a 2-0 victory for NMU, whereas Michigan won 5-3 on Saturday.
- Mark Mitera hasn’t decided if he is going to have surgery to repair a torn ACL.
- Michigan basketball’s 2008-09 promotional video is out.
- I don’t mean to bring up painful memories, but I felt it was worth mentioning that Northern Illinois beat Toledo 38-7 on Saturday.
- Reid Fragel, a tight end recruit from Grosse Pointe, thinks Michigan is being disrespectful to recruits from the state of Michigan since coaches are going after so many players from other parts of the country. Fragel is from Michigan, and the Wolverines didn’t show a whole lot of interest in him. They didn’t offer him a scholarship, and it seems he is a little upset over that. What’s funny is that even though Fragel is so concerned about the state of Michigan, he ended up committing to Ohio State.
- The first BCS standings of the 2008 season have been released.

Maybe Fragel should realize that because he stated many times that he wanted to remain at TE that a team with six tight ends on the roster might not be interested in his services. I was always under the impression that he never had much interest in Michigan anyway, seems like sour grapes.
Michigan b-ball, can they win 9 games in the B10 this year?
Only if Gibson really improves and one of the freshman is a complete surprise.
