Friday Quick Hits: Lord Stanley Is Coming to Yost
- If you’re going to be near Yost Ice Arena on Saturday, you will have a chance to get your picture taken with the Stanley Cup.
The Stanley Cup will be available for viewing and pictures outside on the north plaza of Yost Ice Arena on Saturday, October 11th beginning at 5:00pm and lasting until 6:35pm. A photographer will be available to take your photo with the Stanley Cup but feel free to bring personal cameras as well.
- As for Michigan’s games against St. Lawrence tonight and tomorrow, The Blog That Yost Built has 10 things to know about the Wolverines’ opponent.
- Avery Horn will return kickoffs for Michigan on Saturday if Martavious Odoms doesn’t play due to an injury. Horn got first-team reps on kick returns in practice, and Sam McGuffie was his backup.
- Freshman tight end Kevin Koger got the nickname Greg Oden from his teammates. I can definitely see the resemblance.
- 2010 basketball recruit Russell Byrd, a shooting guard from Indiana, is considering going to Michigan. He is also considering going to Michigan State or Kentucky, and things don’t exactly sound all that optimistic.
“Definitely, I think it would be a huge leap of faith to go with Michigan,” Byrd admitted. “There is definitely a possibility (to win) there. There’s no doubt about that. It’s just going to come down what I think is best for my future and my present in that situation, and if I am willing to take that leap with Michigan or slide into Michigan State or Kentucky.”
My guess is that he ends up at Michigan State, which would be another blow to the 2010 class.
- Reminder: “Hail to the Victors: Greatest Stories in Michigan Football” will air on the Big Ten Network right after Michigan’s game against Toledo and at 10 p.m. ET.
- LaMarr Woodley has the third-most sacks in the NFL this season.
