Friday Quick Hits: Hemingway and Brown Out for Saturday’s Game

  • Junior Hemingway and Carlos Brown will not play on Saturday against Illinois. Hemingway has mono, so he’ll probably be sidelined for a while. Brown sprained his foot against Wisconsin and is once again too injured to play. It seems like every time he gets even remotely healthy he suffers another injury that sets him back.
  • Darryl Stonum was practicing with the scout team due to what is assumed to be disciplinary reasons.
  • Michigan players have been citing their conditioning as a big reason why they were able to beat Wisconsin. Thank you, Mike Barwis.
  • ESPN is reporting that Michigan is Marvin Robinson’s “big early leader.” That isn’t groundbreaking news or anything, but it does back up what we’ve heard over the last week or so.
  • The Ann Arbor News has more on the Jeremy Jackson commitment.
  • RBUAS put up a new post about how he got to have breakfast with Lloyd Carr and bought drinks for Mike Hart last week.
  • Varsity Blue took an in-depth look at Michigan’s first TD of the Wisconsin game (Threet to Koger).
  • I said earlier this week that I wasn’t all that high on South Florida. Considering USF lost to Pittsburgh last night, I’m glad I had that feeling and didn’t overrate the Bulls as much as the AP and USA Today polls did.
  • One week after upsetting #1 USC, Oregon State lost to Utah last night on a field goal as time expired. The Utes are now 6-0 and are well on their way to making it to a BCS game. The only team that stands in their way now appears to be BYU, who also hopes to make a run at the BCS. That should definitely be a great game if both teams are undefeated.

If BYU and Utah are both undefeated, there is a strong likelihood that ESPN Gameday would be there. When, if ever, has Gameday been on campus at a non-BCS school? That would easily be a top 10 matchup.

Is it wrong of me to be a Utah fan now, lol?
