Wednesday Quick Hits: Michigan Contacts Delaware to Schedule Game?

  • Via The Diag, The News Journal (a Delaware paper) is reporting that Michigan has inquired about playing the University of Delaware in football.
Michigan has contacted Delaware regarding paying a visit to Ann Arbor for a nonconference game, Keeler said. He added it is unlikely Delaware would be interested, since he would prefer a nonconference schedule concentrating on I-AA home games, which can earn Delaware as much as most I-A road games and give the Hens a much better chance at winning.

Bill Martin, what the hell do you think you’re doing? The last two season openers have resulted in losses for Michigan, and although I do understand that it’s hard to schedule non-conference games now-a-days, do not ever schedule another I-AA team. No good can come from it, especially if Michigan played a team that has the same helmet as them. That is just a setup for embarrassment.

  • ESPN provided some great bulletin board material for Michigan in their weekly power rankings as they said this about Wisconsin:
The Badgers’ bye week arrived at a good time. Wisconsin begins Big 10 play at Michigan (ABC, 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday) and will follow that warm-up with consecutive home games against Ohio State and Penn State.

  • The Michigan hockey team is ranked second in the USA Today preseason poll. In total, there are five CCHA teams in the top 15, showing how strong the conference will be this upcoming season.
  • The Week 4 BlogPoll is out, and for the second time this year I have won the “Mr. Numb Existence” award.
  • The time and TV arrangements for Michigan’s non-conference basketball schedule have been released.
  • Brad Nessler, Bob Griese, and Paul Maguire will call Michigan’s game on Saturday for ABC.
  • Varsity Blue has the video of Zoltan Mesko when he explained the situation on Wall Street during Monday’s press conference.
  • Wisconsin running back P.J. Hill has a “significant bruise” on his back and leg.
  • Reminder: Michael Phelps and Bob Bowman will be honored at the Wisconsin game on Saturday.
  • Finally, on an unrelated note, Matt Millen no longer works for the Detroit Lions!
