Michigan Adds Two New Basketball Student Sections
At a pep rally today for the football team, John Beilein introduced Rich Rodriguez and discussed how successful their West Virginia teams were in the past. Beilein also shared some news regarding student tickets for the upcoming basketball season, and it’s all good. You can tell that Beilein wants to do everything possible to make the basketball program better, and one of the things that can do that is getting more students to go to the games.
To hopefully increase the attendance of students, season tickets behind the benches will cost only $99. That gets you a reserved seat behind Michigan’s or the opposing team’s bench. On top of that, if you want to go to games for free, that is also going to be possible. Beilein said that a student section will be added in the endzone with the band, and all seats there will be free to students. Beilein added that there will be a second student section that is also in the endzone (I believe he said it was on the opposite side of the section by the band) and is also free.
I do wonder if Michigan will be able to regularly fill both of these new students sections, but I guess it’s possible considering the tickets are free. This is a great way to create a better atmosphere at Crisler Arena as the more students the better. I credit John Beilein for making this happen as it was something being talked about earlier this year. Nobody expected free student tickets to happen, but they will be a reality. For the students that still want to sit behind the benches and have a reserved seat, they can do so at a reduced price, and then the students that just want to show up to a game can also do so for no price at all.
