Kevin Newsome Decommits
Throughout the summer there have been rumors that Kevin Newsome was considering re-opening his recruitment, and that is exactly what happened today. Newsome decommitted from Michigan, which honestly surprises me as it seemed like those rumors were just that – rumors.
I imagine Newsome will still consider re-committing to Michigan whenever he decides to pick a school, but I have a feeling he may lose his chance at being a Wolverine. Tate Forcier has been interested in Michigan for quite some time now, and this is the opening he needed. With only 1 quarterback recruit committed to Michigan right now, I’d say there is a great chance that Tate decides to pull the trigger and verbal to U-M, especially since he was trying to schedule a visit to Ann Arbor early in the season.

Whatever the reason (most likely being he or his family/handlers wanting to be close to home) he seems to have lost his shot at playing for M.
There is like very little chance that Tate doesn't commit on the 30th, would be a major surprise if he didn't!!, and that would likely mean the end of QB recruiting for this year!!
I hear Ohio State has a couple open slots left.
Michigan still has some very intriging prospects left on the board.
Starting with 2 superstar corners in Dre Kirkpatrick and Darius Winston.
Winston is most likely to commit to michigan as he has shown love for them since he decommited.
2 great recievers in Ruben Randle and Shaquelle Evans both have Michigan atop their lists.
Jelani Jenkins is the2nd best linebacker in the class of 2009 and is showing praise in Michigan and their coaching staff.
Eugene Smith and Tate Forcier are 2 superstar qbs and Michigan is most likely to get atleast 1(Forcier)
Newsome is a great athlete and I’m disappointed with this news… and I’m surprised also.
There’s a gaping hole at the QB spot at Michigan and yet top athletes like Pryor, Shephard, Newsome have all passed on the opportunity. Is there some aversion to easily becoming the next starting QB at the winningest school in the country, or what?
Is it all coincidental? I think Michigan will be OK with Beaver and one other, but these frequent snubs are disturbing.
RR’s system needs at least 2, preferrably 3, QBs who can take the reigns at any one time.
Michigan will land Forcier, IMO. And perhaps Mr. Smith might reconsider his options as well.
Don’t weep Michigan fans, Beaver is not chopped liver. He is a very good quarterback and possibly the reason Newsome “maybe” having second thoughts. Beaver comes out of a system that provides better competition and this year he is the starting qb for his school that is favored to win the Texas state championship. His school this year is ranked #38 nationally by one service.

Tate Forcier is not chopped liver either and comes from arguably better high school competition as well. In fact, I believe his school produced Kellen Winslow a few years back.
However, Newsome is without a doubt the better “athlete,” than the forementioned two are but they are arguably better game quarterbacks.
Personally I have no doubt that, that is the reason why Newsome felt the need to go to the Military school to improve his qb skills.
I hope Newsome comes back around. As Newsome said before he and Forcier both discussed coming to Ann Arbor to compete. I am interested to see what McNeal does now because they have said him and Newsome got to be good friends. To be honest I get nervous til Signing Day. That’s 6= months away. No tell who is going to waver. As we almost lost McGuffie to Cal on Signing Day last year.
I think McNeal is pretty tight with Shavodrick Beaver as well, so hopefully he is 100% committed.
