Friday Quick Hits: Vote for Michigan
- Eight total players, including Marques Slocum, that were on the spring roster are not on the roster released earlier this week by Michigan. Slocum was the only one on scholarship and is the only departure that has been confirmed by Rich Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said Slocum’s departure was due to him not meeting academic and football obligations.
It sucks that Slocum is gone after all of the work he put in to even get to Michigan, but hopefully he’ll land on his feet somewhere else.
- LaMarr Woodley, who is one of the co-founders of the Heroes for Kids golf outing, was not upset that no Michigan players were able to attend the event due to a scheduled workout.
- ESPN is running a contest called “Helmet Clash,” and Michigan faces off against Arizona State today. Should Michigan receive more votes than ASU to move on to the quarterfinals, their next opponent would be Notre Dame or Texas. Make sure to do your part and give Michigan a vote. The winner will be announced on College Football Live at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. You should tune in not only to find out if Michigan won, but also to see Rich Rodriguez as he will be a guest on the show today.
- Voting for TitleTown USA is also open. Make sure to cast a vote for Ann Arbor. You can vote as many times as you like. To do that, you just have to reopen the voting page. The winning city will be announced on Monday’s 6 o’clock SportsCenter.
- Rich Rodriguez said yesterday that Kevin Grady is suspended from the team and will have to work his way back on it. Grady is currently working out on his own and if he does get back on the team, he will see a decrease in playing time, at least when first returning.
- MVictors has audio from WDFN yesterday that includes interviews with Lloyd Carr, Jalen Rose, and Angelique Chengelis.
- Speaking of that interview with Jalen Rose, he took a shot at both Ohio State and Michigan State during it.
- Tate Forcier said that he will definitely take an official visit to Michigan and listed U-M in his top six. This comes as a small surprise since Michigan has two QB commits already, but his interest in the Wolverines doesn’t seem like it’s going away anytime soon.
- Ohio State was unsurprisingly picked as the Big Ten preseason favorite by members of the media. Wisconsin and Illinois were predicted to finish second and third, respectively. This is the first time in 12 years that Michigan wasn’t predicted to finish in the top three.
- Rivals ran an article recently about something called the A-11 offense. The A-11 offense is a combination of a bunch of different playing styles that is run in a very unique way. There are only three offensive linemen, but there are two quarterbacks. The other six players spread the field as wideouts to create mass confusion for defenses. For more info on this new playing style, check out the Rivals article and the official site of the A-11 offense.

Grady is done. Even if he manages to work his way out of the doghouse, by the time he does, he’ll be so far down the depth chart that it won’t matter. It’s a real shame that he never lived up to his potential.
