Jordan Barnes Commits to Michigan

Michigan received its 11th commitment today as Indiana linebacker Jordan Barnes gave a verbal to the Wolverines. Barnes picked Michigan over Alabama to become the first actual linebacker to join this recruiting class. Fellow commit Isaiah Bell is a safety right now, but there’s a good chance he will move to linebacker at Michigan. For now, though, Barnes is the first and only linebacker in this class.

Barnes is a three-star recruit on both Rivals and Scout. He is listed as an inside linebacker on Rivals and a weak-side linebacker on Scout, but is ranked in the 20′s at his positions on both sites. He’s got prototypical size for a linebacker and decent speed as well.

My guess is that Michigan will take one or two more linebackers in this class depending on where the coaches expect Bell to end up. Since he is likely heading down the road of becoming a linebacker in college, one would think Michigan would only take one more. Still, I think U-M ends up with two more LB commits come signing day.
