BREAKING: Newsome Commits to Michigan!

Dual-threat quarterback Kevin Newsome has committed to Michigan. I’ll have much more later, but am headed out the door for class right now. This is great news as Newsome is a very talented player and will be great to watch in the spread.

    That’s great news!!

    After watching Newsome’s film on Rivals, the person he reminds me of is Donovan McNabb, although I believe Newsome looks a little faster. Newsome’s throwing motion reminds me of McNabb and a little bit of Vince Young.

    One thing that I noticed was that when Newsome is under pressure, he does not just tuck the ball and run, he scrambles until he finds an open receiver, so he keeps his eyes down the field, even under pressure. Some dual threat qbs have the bad habit of taking off and running with the ball if no one is open right away. It appears that Newsome does not have that bad habit and has patience to wait for the wr’s to get open.

    Newsome’s passing abilities look much more polished than Pryor’s, in my opinion. Pryor may be able to scramble better, but Newsome is the better passer while being a good scrambler. Overall, I think Newsome is a more rounded QB than Pryor. (I think Pryor’s game can be one dimensional at times due to his passing abilities not being super.) I could easily see Newsome starting as a true freshman.

    Talk about a great pickup!!! Now we need to get some OL to block for Newsome!!
