J.T. Turner Commits to Michigan
J.T. Turner, a 4-star cornerback from Ohio, committed to Michigan today, becoming the second recruit to do so for the Class of 2009. Turner visited Michigan earlier this week and decided to pull the trigger early by verballing to the Wolverines. I’ll have more on Monday.
Welcome to Michigan, J.T.

Finally, some good news! Turner looks like a good one. I’d love to get a few more commits for ’09, but at least the two we have so far looks to be studs.
We need to hold U$C off for Teric Jones (we lead for him per my sources) and Campbell (U$C is going after him full blast).
Don’t worry about the lack of commits too much. One thing to remember is that Florida recruits DECIDE LATE IN THE PROCESS, unlike the midwest, where they usually decide in the spring or the summer. If you look at FL, FSU, Miami, etc, they have received many of their verbals at the end. Top FLA recruits decide on or near signing day.
The state of texas, however, is the complete opposite as texas always seems to have their class mostly full before summer.
Also, it is not uncommon that many recruits are having a “wait and see” attitude. WHen the W’s come, the players will as well. (Pete Carroll didn’t start recruiting well till his teams won and teh boosters have really taken things up a notch as far as “donating” to recruits’ churches.)
Tressel just wasn’t interested in this kid or else he would be an Ohio State commit.
So that’s why he had an OSU offer and was going to visit Columbus yesterday before deciding to commit instead? Keep thinking that.
Teric Jones verballed to UM TODAY. Make that two Cass Tech stand outs for 2009.
I heard Jim Tressel told him not to bother coming and commit to Michigan.
Thanks for the laughs Anon. Yeah the vest is really offering kids and then telling them “Screw it just go to UM, we don’t want you.”
Sean, excellent response to that Bucknut idiot!! It is funny how they spin things when they lose out on a recruit, especially one they really wanted. If recruits are offered at this point of the year, it means they are Plan A recruits. If OSU “did not want” this recruit, they never would have offered at this point.
Had he commited to osu, they would be proclaiming that he is the next coming of whoever their last good safety was. Once our offense is in place, we will expose their slow, unathletic defense. They do well against boring offenses, like DeBoard’s, but the spread teams (LSU, Illinois, Florida) really show how slow and pathetic their defense really is!!
GO BLUE!!!
