Miles Withdraws Name Again?
UPDATE: From LSU’s official athletic site, here is the statement from Miles:
“I had a conversation with Michigan last week that covered a wide range of topics. I was doing nothing more than helping them with their search for a football coach, just as any loyal alumnus might do. It was nothing more than that.“I’m not a candidate for that job and I will not be a candidate for the job. I was only assisting them in their search for a coach. I have a great job at a wonderful place, a place that my family calls home. It’s time that Michigan goes on with their search for a football coach. I’ll say it again, I’m going to be the coach at LSU next season.”
Looks like we have to move on. I can’t believe I got my hopes up again only to be disappointed again.
Crap.
On ESPN’s College Football Live, John Saunders just said that Les Miles has released a statement saying that he is not a candidate for the Michigan job. Right before this announcement was made by Saunders, Bob Griese said that he thought Miles was just giving his own “advice” on some candidates to look at when he was on the phone with Mary Sue Coleman and Bill Martin last Friday. Coming out of the commercial break, Saunders basically said that what Griese said was exactly what the released statement was.
The roller coaster ride continues…
Is is time to move on for good?

yes, time to move on. there are lots of good candidates out there, including tedford and petersen … or maybe a nfl coach such as petrino. there are some awful candidates, as well, including debord, english, hoke, and cameron.
isn’t this the same thing he has said for the past couple of weeks. I don’t see this as anything new…
Don’t worry. Les Miles isn’t that great. Good, but not so great. Then again he did turn winning seasons at OkSU. And he would bring good coordinators with him.
Just pray that we don’t get Brady Hoke or Mike Debord instead!
Have fun with Mike DeBord, Ron English, or Hoky Pokey…
I can’t believe Brian Kelly or Carolina’s DC or New England’s OC (with the Tom Brady connection) haven’t been more serious candidates. Glen Mason would be a better hire than DeBord, English, or Hoke IMO.
Yes, thank you Lloyd Carr, we have to move on.
Don’t believe this for a minute. It’s not over until UM hires someone else. It makes sense to cut a deal between both sides and create a smokescreen so people layoff the speculation until after the BCS title game. If Michigan says they will wait until mid-January to make a decision, then don’t count Miles out at all.
ArizonaGoBlue,
You are delusional…
Using your reasoning (or lack of), UM might get Jim Tressel, Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll, etc. Until UM hires another coach, there is always the chance they hire one of these coaches.
ArizonaGoBlue,
Doesn’t Wal-Mart frown on employees browsing the Internet while at work?
Hey anonymous,
With a set of balls, you can go after anything you want and get it. There is no reason UM can’t get him as their coach. If you had a set, you’d understand that no isn’t an option when negotiating. …by the way, what did you cook your wife for dinner tonight when she came home from work?
Hey ArizonaGoBlue,
I can think of a handful of reasons why UM won’t get Les Miles:
1) LSU will pay more $$
2) LSU has more resources
3) LSU has the state to themselves, UM has MSU as an in-state rival
4) Louisiana has more high school talent than Michigan
5) LSU fans treat Les Miles like a GOD down there
LSU IS A MUCH BETTER JOB THAN UM!! UM can negotiate all they want, but they will have to take no for an answer eventually since Les Miles is staying put at LSU!
Did you have a rough day at Wal-Mart today?
Hey anonymous,
You’re flat-out stupid! You obviously didn’t go to Michigan! Am I right? You have no idea why a coach would want the Michigan job. Are you from the south boy? Did you read “Sifting Through the Wreckage… Again”? Shut up and get me the fries I ordered!
ArizonaGoBlue,
When Les Miles stays at LSU, we will find out who is “stupid” as you say. Interesting you name call instead of attacking any of my argument. I can tell you did not attend UM either, or you got robbed if you did as you cannot construct a logical argument at all. Before you question other people’s intelligence, get some yourself and learn how to write!! Doesn’t Wal-Mart include writing in their training program?
Bottom line, Miles will be in line to make 3-3.5 million and if he were to get fired, he would be guaranteed at least 14 million. It may be nice and all being a “Michigan Man” as some here say, but only if the pay is comparable. It is plain foolish to leave the money LSU is willing to give and plus the perks of LSU. I find it funny you are one of the very few who has not yet moved on. Les Miles prefers LSU so get over it and get back to work!! Wal-Mart does not like slackers…
I did go to Michigan and you did not. That’s why you’re anonymous…
Wrong again ArizonaGoBlue
Me were wrong, Les Miles are not comings too UM cuz LSU are the better job. Good call anon!! but i went to UM so i am smarter
