Henne Watches ND Game from Pressbox; Out for Penn State

Chad Henne will not play this coming Saturday unless Lloyd Carr and his fellow coaches are trying to fool Penn State. Henne is not listed on the depth chart at all for the Penn State game and really doesn’t look ready to play anytime soon. He watched the Notre Dame game from a coaches booth in the pressbox and has a brace or some other type of immobilization device on his right knee.

I’d say Henne still has a few weeks to go before being ready to play again. That would pinpoint a possible return date for the Eastern Michigan game at the earliest, but I really don’t think he would be back then unless he is 100% healthy. With that, it is probably more likely that Henne would be able to play again against Purdue or Illinois.

take it for what it’s worth, but the first thing out of my wife’s mouth when she saw henne in the pressbox was that that is the type of brace people usually wear after surgery. pure speculation, but perhaps one of the many fine medical professionals who i’m sure frequent this blog (along with the slew of other M blogs) can chime in. my wife is a nurse, by the way.

I dont know what to make of the brace, but the fact that Chad was standing for much of the first half, without any crutches, makes me wonder if its all for show. If it was serious, like surgery, would he really be standing on it this soon?

My gut tells me we see him play Saturday against PSU. Oh and plus Henne is supposed to take snaps in practice later today, according to Carr’s comments in today’s presser!

Carr today said Henne might take snaps in practice TODAY, so who knows?! Maybe it’s just gamesmanship, but either way it’ll keep Joe Pa on his toes.
