Big Ten Bloggers Roundtable: Week 3 (Questions)

By · Wednesday, September 12, 2007 · 12:00 AM |  Share | 10 Comments

As we head into Week 3 of the college football season, it is now my turn to host a Big Ten Bloggers Roundtable. The reason I’m hosting this week is because Michigan plays Notre Dame, which originally looked like a great match-up. When we were going through and scheduling who hosts when, we tried to let bloggers host during the week of a big game for their team. Like I said, this was at one time an attractive game. Instead, though, it is a battle of 0-2 failures, but nonetheless, is intriguing at the least.

With that being said, let’s dive into the questions for Week 3.

1. Now that two weeks of play are behind us, what is one encouraging surprise and one downing disappointment from your team? (Easy answer to the latter part of the question for Michigan bloggers)

2. A look at the current Big Ten standings shows things dead-locked record-wise for the most part. Once conference play actually begins, which two or three teams pull away from the rest of the pack?

3. Has your team ever played in a game that was just downright boring and impossible to watch? I ask this because going into the Michigan-Notre Dame game, looking at it on paper, it is shaping up to be one of the ugliest we may see all year.

I’ll post my answer to these questions tomorrow.

UM showed great character in their comeback attempt against App. St. UM can be thankful there are no more division I-AA teams left on their schedule.

I would assume you would still have to go with the normal favorites in the Big Ten and chalk up their slow starts to poor timing, etc. With Henne out, it will make it difficult for Michigan to compete.

Therefore it’s difficult to consider Michigan a favorite now. There is a learning curve for freshman quarterbacks in big time football, so expect the freshman to struggle a bit.

This year Michigan may not win a national or conference title, but this year should be a character builder for next year. They should be playing for pride and respectability this year, and they can send a message on the field that they aren’t the same team that played in the first two games.

Also, Michigan fans in the stadium need to make some noise during the game. Make it a tough place to play for visiting teams. Be the intimidators.
