In a game that had expectations just as low as the Wisconsin loss last Wednesday, Michigan headed down to Bloomington to battle the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday. The reason expectations were so low is due to the fact that Michigan hasn’t won at Indiana since 1995, and the chances of it happening on Saturday didn’t look good. If the sloppiness and usual team that plays what I call “Amaker ball” shows up, then tack on another number to the “L” column.

The usual mediocre team did show up on Saturday and immediately was blown out of the water. Playing with an early 11-0 lead, Indiana had breathing room the entire game to make mistakes of their own, which they did. The only problem for Michigan is that every time an IU mistake could be capitalized on, the Maize and Blue just ended up making more of their own. The Hoosiers used the early advantage to up the lead to as many as 20 points at one time in the second half. Michigan did make a late run and actually cut the lead to 8 points, but it was still too much to completely come back from.

Indiana walked away with the 76-61 victory and improved to 15-5 on the season. Michigan now falls to 16-6 after two losses in the previous week, making its chances of an NCAA tournament berth that much slimmer when looking at the schedule. I’m just so sick and tired of the same ol’ same ol’. It’s not hard to find why Michigan loses these types of games. Fall behind on scoring droughts and let the other team storm away, turn the ball over constantly, run no offense, miss the few open shots you get. That’s the story behind Michigan basketball.

I’ll have a full post on my thoughts on the Michigan basketball program, specifically Tommy Amaker, later this week. Michigan heads home to host the Iowa Hawkeyes on Wednesday in hopes of getting a win. At this point the Wolverines have to get them whenever possible as the schedule only gets tougher. Check back here for more Michigan basketball coverage throughout the rest of the season.
