Harris Poll Ballots

The Harris Poll has shown many discrepancies considering Florida had a first-place vote, but I went through each poll that was publicly released and found even more whacked-out ballots to quote Brian at MGoBlog. Some went against Michigan, some against Florida, and others completely inaccurate.

Paul Zeise:
No. 1: Ohio State
No. 2: Louisville
No. 3: Florida
No. 4: Michigan

Larry Keech:
No. 1: Ohio State
No. 2: Boise State
No. 3: Michigan
No. 4: Wisconsin
No. 5: Florida

Robert Lawless:
No. 1: Ohio State
No. 2: Michigan
No. 3: Wisconsin
No. 4: Louisville
No. 5: Florida

Ray Melick:
No. 1: Ohio State
No. 2: Florida
No. 3: Louisville
No. 4: Michigan

Tim Neverett:
No. 1: Ohio State
No. 2: Florida
No. 3: USC
No. 4: Michigan

Gene Ponti:
No. 1: Ohio State
No. 2: Florida
No. 3: LSU
No. 4: Michigan

Jim Walden:
No. 1: Florida
No. 2: Ohio State
No. 3: Michigan

And this poll helped determine who played in the national championship game. Give me a break.

why is it an outrage that Florida got a number one vote? some people consider ohio state an overrated team.

  2. Anonymous says:

But Jim Walden said Texas would still deserve to be rated higher than every other one-loss team if it wins out because the Longhorns? only loss was to No. 1 Ohio State.

?You?re never going to get me to vote for one team ahead of a team that?s only lost to the best team in the country,? Walden said.

What happened to your principles, Jim ??

Undefeated from a major conference, that’s why. USC and LSU ahead of Michigan? Riduclous. Those people should have their voting privileges revoked.

  4. J.T says:

I’m sure everyone that reads this blog could put together a better ballot then these idiots. Brentson Bucknor gets a vote in the Harris Poll, and in an interview w/ ESPN, he thought Florida lost to LSU! Idiots.

  5. Matt says:

That is just unbelieveable at how many polls are off compared to others. Even the computers are smarter than this. And USC at three after losing? Wow!

    Quit crying Michigan fans.

Haha yeah I know the former player from Clemson probably didn’t even watch a game…not to mention he was practically illiterate (sorry for the low blow, but it’s true). His face was pretty funny when they were like “uhh actually UF lost to Auburn, not LSU” hahaha. Priceless.

As a Michigan student I am not crying, as we have had one heck of a year. Yeah we lost to Ohio State and I give them credit, they are good. We only lost by THREE points at their place. Lets see the margin between Florida and Ohio State. I hate to say it but ill be cheering for the buckeyes because the SEC sucks, toughest schedule my ass. So to all of you Gator fans that think Ohio State is overrated, just wait.

  9. Sean says:

I agree. As much as I hate to do it, I’m hoping Ohio State wins big.

Have you ever watched football before? I am far from a Michigan or OSU fan, but both of those teams will/would destory Florida – thankfully one of them gets the chance to show it on the field. people can bicker and bitch all they want about Michigan and Florida’s rankings, but to say that Florida deserves even one first place vote over OSU is absurd!

I am a big time OSU fan. YOU GUYS GOT SCREWED!!! I have to be honest, I didnt want to play Michigan again but thought they deserved another shot. How can that idiot put Florida number one? Kill USC I will be rooting for you believe it or not.

Go Blue, Go Badgers, and especially GO BUCKS!!!

As insane as this may sound, I’ll actually defend Larry Keech. Boise State is undefeated. Michigan is not. That (for me) is a valid reason to put them ahead of Michigan. I wouldn’t do it, but I can’t fault that logical path.

What I think would be more interesting is to see what these people had after last week.

As for Jim Walden: if you really, honestly, and truly feel Florida is a better team than Ohio State, then I’d like whatever you’re taking.

It’s ridiculous that you would defend somebody putting Boise State ahead of Michigan or Florida. They haven’t beaten anyone, which is the only way to show how good your team is. By your rationale, I could rank some undefeated Div II college ahead of Michigan or Florida, too. This would obviously be a fallacy. Boise State plays in a very minor conference, and does not schedule challenging non-conference matches.

I think rankings should be determined by who you think would win in a game on a neutral field. If you honestly think that Boise State could beat Mich in a bowl game, by all means rank them #2. If you can’t defend that claim, then don’t vote.

If Florida got a #1 vote, Michigan should get several, because a lot of people believe they could beat OSU on a neutral field.

    Just my two cents…

Let?s get rid of the BCS mess. Urge the NCAA to finally sack the BCS system for a playoff. Sign onto our petition here: http://ga4.org/campaign/sackthebcs

With your help, we can change the system.

Yes the system is flawed, but there’s nothing to do at this point except root Big Ten.

As bizarre as it is, I will be pulling for Ohio State to win big.

I honestly thought for the sake of ratings alone Michigan would get another chance to take on Ohio State.

  17. Anonymous says:

Ok so had Michigan beat Ohio State would we be playing Florida, no. It would be a rematch for sure.

if ohio state is better than florida, it’s certainly not by much. believe it or not michigan/OSU fans, this game will come down to the last possession. youre just kidding yourself if you think this will be a blowout.
