Michigan Reels In 13th Commitment
It was just days ago when Junior Hemingway, a highly-touted wide receiver out of South Carolina, made the decision to commit to Michigan. Already, another recruit has made that same decision since the Hemingway announcement. Over the weekend, Avery Horn, a three-star running back that can not only run the ball, but catch and return it as well, decided that he will be attending Michigan.
Horn has gone somewhat under the radar, and was not expected to commit to Michigan after saying that it was “far away.” Although he made that statement, he still committed to the Wolverines. In fact, one of the reasons he did commit to Michigan may have been that it was an out-of-state college.
One of the big factors for Horn was his desire to leave the state and broaden his horizons.
When one of his factors is leaving the state, you had to know it didn’t bode well for most of his possible choices. The vast majority of his list of probable schools to attend were located in California or somewhere else on the West Coast. Only Nebraska and Michigan were a decent distance away from Horn’s home in Hanford, CA.
Avery Horn is listed as an all-purpose back. Basically, he can do it all. After watching some of his highlight reels on Rivals, I’ve come to the conclusion that he will break your ankles if you’re not careful. On one kickoff he returned it to the endzone for a touchdown, and on the way broke at least 6 or 7 tackles. His explosiveness can come through the air as well. Opponents in the secondary will need to look out for Horn as he can blow by you and catch touchdowns just as good as he can return them.
His running style is also very interesting. The way Horn cuts is so smooth and fast. One second you could be right on his heels, and the next he’s on his way to the endzone.
Michigan is definitely stacking up the backfield in the 2007 recruiting class as Avery Horn becomes the 4th Michigan commit that could play as a running back. Another great pickup by the maize and blue.
