More on Marques Slocum

Marques Slocum is inching closer and closer to passing the SAT and qualifying for Michigan. Slocum, who didn’t make it to Michigan last fall strictly because his SAT score wasn’t good enough, has spent this entire past year working towards getting to Michigan. He hasn’t been successful yet, but as I said, he’s very close. On his last exam (on May 30th) Slocum raised his score 30 points according to Rivals.

This is what Slocum had to say about his final attempt of the year at passing the SAT, which he feels he nailed:

That’s my last one. I feel as though I’m going to be a Wolverine next year. My bags are packed. If it doesn’t happen, I’ll talk to Coach Strip [Steve Stripling] and go from there.

I sure hope his feelings are right. I’ve said it many times before, a player that is so dedicated deserves to play after all of the work it took just to get here. If he doesn’t make the cut then it’s back to prep school and I’m sure he’ll give it another try in ’07.
